Some of you may be aware of the fact that for the last five years there has been a movement to glorify the accomplishments of a woman named Vicki Polin and an organization called the Awareness Center. USAJewish.com firmly believes there is a problem in doing this. There have been numerous accusations that Vicki Polin abused the Jewish community's trust placed in her by attacking innocent persons, starting with her campaign to brand the Orthodox community of Chicago as Satan worshippers.
1. USAJewish.com is looking for survivors of Vicki Polin who would want to be interviewed by a journalist and have their story published. If you are interested, please contact Yori Yanover for more information.
2. USAJewish.com asks that whenever an article comes out regarding Vicki Polin you alert us, including a link on the page it was found.
3. USAJewish.com asks that you write letters to editors requesting accountability in the portrayal Vicki Polin and the Awareness Center. Please forward your letters to USAJewish.com and send a note giving us permission to publish your letter on our blog.
Vicki Polin is the most favorite Jewish author of both White Power and Muslim bloggers.

Sorry, but NONE of the serious cases of sex abuse, involving children and individuals where it's obvious they needed protection, such as employees, had anything to do with Polin, other than she happily trumpeted them after another source published it. NOT ONE.
Instead, what she does is maintain two pornographic websites with ugly pictures of half-naked guys, which she appropriates from other publications. She drums up an atmosphere of hysteria around the appearances of an aging folk singer who confessed to under-age sex years ago; or soils the memory of the greatest singing rabbi in recent time, forever pounding the message of his sexual weaknesses, more than ten years after his passing.
She has nothing to do with support, only with shame and the thrill of humiliation. Look at her methods, look at the people she attracts, you don't need more than that to see that her "Oprah stint" was only the first and most gruesome of an ongoing path and methodology.
All I can say is that it's a sad day when a woman who devotes her life to uncovering domestic violence and sexual abuse in the Jewish community gets smeared in this way.
I was abused as a child & found the Awareness Ctr. site to be quite helpful to me.
Sounds to me like you just don't like the fact that some of the folk she exposes are Orthodox. I've got news for you--there are Jews of every denomination who are abusers.
I want to make clear that I don't know Vicki Polin, am not a personal friend of hers, & have no axe to grind in this smearfest. But you sound somewhat hysterical & terribly defensive about what she's done.
I agree wholeheartedly with JH & wish you'd grant more credence to his/her comment.
Richard, please educate yourself on the terrible harm inflicted by this woman, who helps no one, but absolutely no one, and hurts many.
Listen up, richard. In defending Vicki and her work you are missing the subplot. The fact is there are no jewish women sexual predators named and served up for our delectation on her awareness center site or in her survivors blog even though sexual predation and sexual addiciton is an equal opportunity disease, just like all addictions. She only serves up men. It’s clear to anyone with a nose she’s hoping no one will notice she’s a sexual predator, every inch of herself.
This is a woman who said her (rabbinic) family is steeped in incest, satanic sexual perversions and cult/religion sexual abominations, she didn’t just say it in the privacy of her therapist’s office, she said it on national TV, in a thousand letters to politcians and law enforcement and citizens of this country, she said it over and over and over in her activist Believe The Children and other forums. She never retracts anything she ever says even after 25 years have passed and she could legitimately say, I made a mistake. She doesn’t know what it means to say I made a mistake. Her M.O. is to move on and make an even bigger claim against the next poor bastard and so not have to deal with the original trauma she created. She’s like a perpertrator in her profile. But she gets away with it because she “knows how to work the system”. She thinks she will never be caught. She is sure of it. There’s always an even bigger scandal to pin on an even more unsuspecting innocent to take the focus off her and put it onto some poor man. Always remember, she knows how the system works, she’s brilliant at covering her bloody tracks making them look all shiny and bright. Her family in chicago have mostly had to change the way they spell their names so they don’t get connected with her, or else pretend she’s from another branch of the family or squirm some other way. But do you notice there is a lack of Polin on the awareness center lists of sexual perps; this after she went on Oprah claiming they are part of an international rabbinical messianic conspiracy of satanic sexual baby torturers? Polin has the all the charm and irresistible gory fascination of an village plaza auto-da-fe. She is a truly evil person. A sexual predator of the most sadistic and devious type. She flourishes under your very nose. It’s not easy to internalize the fact that women make up as many, albeit wildly unreported, sexual offenders as men in an avergae population. No one suspects Vicki Polin of being an offender except for those who know it.

I've gotta say that Vivki's probably done some good with all of the stink she's made but her guilty-until-proven-innocent approach with all of the accompanying baschmutzing make it only fair that you turn her spotlight and camera back on her.
Her Oprah appearance was just plain nuts and her anonymous ways - while writing shit about all and sundry - are pretty gross.
My personal preference would be for her to be left alone and for her to continue her crusade in a more reasonable and just manner. Until that happens though I think your campaign to bring her into the picture is a necessary counterbalance.
Remember Vicki: Innocent until proven guilty. Until you learn that, you're doing a lot more harm than good.

Yori, for all of your asking her to be more responsible, you do have to admit that you're not a Gary Rosenblatt. If you were to put some effort into doing the good that Vicki does but without the man-hating and credulity about anything evil said of an Orthodox man, you'd have a lot more credibility in criticising her, methinks.
So while, I think that what you're doing is truly only fair being as she's been doing this to dozens of other people (occassionally with less to answer for), you also have to conceed that there's a place for a responsible/good/just Vivki Polin who properly deals with the issue.

Without a doubt, a phenomenon like VP can only thrive in a community in which it is perceived that clergymen get away with abuse of their flock, be it children or adults.
But a person of VP's serious psychological disadvantages is of no use to the community, and the fact that we have a problem with sexual abuse does not justify the destruction of lives with the "alleged" proviso attached to the murder weapon.
What good is she serving by trumpeting the sexual weaknesses of Reb Shlomo Carlebach, for instance? The man's dead 12 years. He's done for Jewish revival more than anyone in the 20th century. Must his holy memory constantly be soiled each time someone wants to enjoy his music? This is not public service, this is pathological hatred.
And pathological people do not bring some good -- they bring only bad. Anyone who's spiritually sensitive in the least can sense the illness that's throbbing and emanating from her publications. Her notion of empowering anonymous assassins to carve at her enemies -- myself, among others -- is equally pathological. She must be discredited, and then, a month later, when she recovers and does her shtick again - she must be discredited again.

If she choses to target you, your name appears on her site, Then, if someone searches the web for you, this disgusting thing comes up and you have no way to defend yourself. let's face it, people believe what they see in print, no matter whether the information has merit or NOT! Let's rid ourselves of the likes of Vicki Polin and Jewish Whistleblower. HOw do we get this crap unpublished so no more damage can be done?????
